Fruit Funzies by Bri Alexander

Hi Guys and Gals! I hope everyone is excited for the summer and all those hot days lying on the beach and catching up with friends! In the midst of your summer plans, however, it is still paramount to put your health first. How can we stay hydrated, cool and look our best? Below we’ll dive into a quick summer recipe and hydration technique that will have you looking and feeling your best.

Today’s Recipe: Fruit Slushies!

Ingredients:

• 1 cup of frozen fruit (your choice: mangoes, strawberries, watermelon, berries, watermelon)

• 1 cup of juice (your choice: apple, pineapple, orange)

Prep time: 5-10 minutes

To make this delicious treat you will need to blend the fruit in a blender while slowly adding the juice until the slushy is a consistency of satisfaction.

Why this recipe is extra-fantastic: This recipe calls for simply juice and fruit. Depending on which you choose the fruits are loaded with vitamins like vitamin C which boosts immunity and even prevents skin wrinkling!

Hydration Station!

Did you know that our bodies are comprised 60% of water and that water is one of the most important/necessary drinks for our daily functioning? In the summer it is especially imperative that we hydrate as our bodies are constantly expending energy to keep us cool and our systems running smoothly. Below is a guide on how to make fruit-infused water drinks that can be taken on the go! These drinks will let you enjoy the benefit of water and also pure sweetness from your favorite fruits so that you can stay away from the pre-made sugary beverages lining your grocery store aisles.

Ingredients:

• Combination of your favorite fruits, chopped into small chunks (ex: peach. Strawberry and raspberry)

• Ice cold water (and ice if desired)

• Plastic bottle that can be re-used (*BPA-free is best)

Prep time: 5 mins

Simply put your fruit chunks into the bottle and then add the ice water (and ice).

Why these infused drinks are so great: Besides the fact that these drinks taste great they are a great detox technique that also boosts metabolism and the body’s ability to burn calories (talk about a summer body!).
